Asset Disclosure

I have been separated from my husband since 2/06. Since that time, I have put about $11,000 into savings. About 1 mo. before I filed for divorce, I withdrew the money and gave it to my mom to open an acct. in her name. I fear he is aware that I have done this. Since I transferred the funds out of my name prior to filing for divorce, is he entitled to half of those funds?

Your husband will be able to claim that the asset is community property and should be divided by the Court. May not be half, could be less - could be more. I will comment that if the Court thinks you are trying to defraud the community estate, it will show its displeasure when it divides the estate. My strong suggestion is to come clean with this asset. Doesn't pay to lie in Court especially in Collin County.
