Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

After being assigned an Attorney through The Women's Shelter where my niece was living, the Attorney that was assigned to her will not return any of her phone calls. Has misrepresented my niece in court and disclosed to the Husband of my niece that she was living in the shelter. After that, she was told to leave the shelter because this has put the other Women and children at risk. My niece only wants an Attorney that will represent her with her best interest in mind, knowing that my niece and her children need protection. How do we go about getting this Attorney to return her calls and following through with legal issues that are in my niece's best interest? My niece has no idea how to go about getting a Pro Bono Attorney and their has never been an Attorney assigned to the children. This case has been going on since January 2009 when my niece left home for fear of hers and her childrens lifes. Can you give me any advice on this? She is supposed to go back to court sometime at the end of this month, but once again, no returned calls from her Attorney.

Not sure what you mean by the attorney that was assigned to her unless you mean that she already has a pro bono attorney. Attorneys are not always appointed for the children. That is done on a case by case basis. Just knowing that your niece was at a shelter should not have put anyone at risk, Most shelters are pretty discrete about their actual locations.

If you really want to help she and the children perhaps you could help hire an attorney for her.
