Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Attorney Fees & Court Costs

The alleged father of my Grandson has petitioned the court for Paternity testing because he doesn't believe he is the father. My daughter was denied legal assistance from West Texas Legal Aide. Their reason was, that her case wasn't enough of a priority for them. She is working, but can't afford the cost of an attorney. He is employed as an Electrician, and is financially able to afford an attorney. They have already been to court on Oct. 4, 2004, in which his attorney asked the judge to order the Paternity Test, in which my daughter agreed. She has rec'd the papers stating the Paternity orders, but has yet to rec'v. anything regarding a date or time. If she is able to locate an attorney to represent her, is it possible for her to have him pay for her attorney, since he is the one who filed the petition? If so, can you recommend someone in our area?

Please call my office next week and let me know what county the case is in.

I would be glad to refer you to an attorney if I know of someone in your county.

Good luck!
