Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I have an attorney and filed for divorce from my husband in May 2009. I keep getting the run around from my attorney about what is going on with my case. The communication I have received from the office has just been to pasify me and has been controdictory. I have already paid this atty $3500 and can't afford to fire him and start over. It has been a difficult case because my husband does not want to pay child support and has since moved to california. There has been no word from him and locating him has proved to be impossible. I explained to the attorney when I met with him the first time that we would not be able to find him, and I needed to do a divorce by publication. What can I do to move this along?

Write a letter to your lawyer - a paper letter - no phone calls or emails. Keep a copy of the letter.

In the letter, tell him basically what you told us, but tell him that if he doesn't ask for citation by publication by (x date), you want to come pick up your file. And then follow through.

You don't have to "start over" with a new lawyer - you need a lawyer who will follow through and get things done.
