Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Back Child Support Owed and SSI disablility

My ex husband came back to Texas to clear up his warrants so he could be granted his Social Security Disability in Maryland, Ma courts. He has never paid child support for our 3 children. It has been about 5 years since it was first ordered which comes to about $44000 owed. The attorney general is dragging their feet and I am afraid he will get out of jail soon and flee. That he won't be served with the past due amount owed and my children will never see a dime of support. My question is, could my children's father's Social Security Disability be garnished and some of the SSI back payment lump sum that he will be awarded taken for support also? I have another question, please. Do people hire private attorneys for matters such as this? Thank you for your time.

Yes, people hire private attorneys for matters such as this. You need to find one in your area who knows both family law and social security law. Good luck.
