Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Back child support

I was given temp custody in 1997. I have not had a final hearing. My ex was ordered to

provide insurance. He got it but refuses to give me the info. He was ordered to pay 1/2 of

their child care ($35 a week) and that was it. He rarely paid the child care they were kicked

out because he owed over $400 so now he doesnt have to pay anything. He claimed them on his

taxes for 2 years even though he wasnt supporting them. Is there any way once I get a final

hearing I can get some kind of back child support? The attorney I had said there is no such thing

as back child support until after he is ordered to pay

Re: Back child support

I disagree with the "attorney you had". A parent has a duty to support their children and the AG regularly gets past due child support. You have to ask for it. Get another attorney to get you a final hearing.
