Do we need to go back to court in order to pay part of a spousal support payment by a different method than was ordered by the court?

Your order probably says something about "the exclusive method of discharging the obligation."
This means that if you pay by some other means, it won't get credited.
Yes, you have to change the Court order. But you might consider simply paying in accordance with the order.
