bankruptcy during divorce

filed sept 06 judge set final hearing for june 07. still have no settlement. husband had stroke w/no insurance after i moved out. owns own business, only thing joint is the house, which he is in. all i asked for is half equity in the house and to refinance out of my name. found out today that he filed bankruptcy. question is: what will happen now in court? will judge order house as marital assett sold and once sold all equity will go on his debt of bankruptcy? will this affect MY credit? can i still walk away from 18 years of marriage with any money from division of assetts?

If you have been attempting to handle this matter without a family law attorney, you should absolutely consider hiring one immediately. You may also need a bankruptcy attorney, so it would be a good idea to retain an attorney who is experienced in both areas, since your case will have both family law and bankruptcy law intertwined in this case.
