Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Bigamy

The man i thought i married was married in 1986 and again in 1997. I married him in 2004. All the marriages are in the state of texas. However, when i search the state's records of marriages and divorces, he has no divorces recorded - only the 3 marriages. If there was a divorce, wouldn't it be recorded with the state? Does that mean we are not legally married?

Re: Bigamy

It is not necessary to divorce in the same state as you were married. If you have doubts that he was divorced elsewhere, contact an attorney to help you prepare yourself and to investigate the legal status. (Contacting the 'former' wives is a viable option).
