Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Bill of Review of Divorce Decree

I have been divorced for just under 4 years. I was being treated for clinical depression at the time of my divorce and was under duress to sign the divorce decree. My ex-husband would not pay for any of the bills that were in my name until I signed the divorce decree. He lied to me about visitation with the children, closed all bank accounts, changed the locks on the house, and hid my personal property. I have just within the last two days learned of a Bill of Review and 4 years since the original decree will be up in about a week. I need help to file this petition and litigate this case but I have very little money. Are there attorneys who have just graduated or students who would be willing to take my case and work with me on the fees. Of course I will be requesting my ex to pay attorney fees and I think I have a very strong case. I am really desperate because I think I need to have this filed within the next week. Plese help.

I don't know that you will have much luck, but try calling the law schools at Texas Wesleyan and at SMU. Schools often have clinics run by 3rd year law students and supervised by professors.

You may also want to contact North Texas Legal Services in McKinney for an application or referral.

With only a property division involved, it is not likely that you will qualify for services, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
