Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Im not on the birth cetificate/responsible for support?

I am not listed on the childs birth certificate. Am I responsible for paying child support to the child or can I challenge the paternity?

Do you feel you are the father? Do you want to be responsible for support? Is there a father on the birth certificate? When was the child born? What created the concern over paternity?

Being on the BC is not a determination of paternity. A signed AOP (acknowledgement of paternity) is. You can sometimes request a paternity test. You should hire counsel. If you have any other question feel free to e-mail me.

You did not state why you are asking about paternity.

If the TX A G's office has sent you a letter, run (don't walk) to an attorney's office and hire someone.

You MUST request DNA testing immediately.

If she's filed involuntary paternity in a Harris County District Court without the TX A G, you still desperately need an attorney.

You must ask for DNA testing or you will automatically be "declared" to be the DAD and the option for future DNA testing goes away.

HIRE AN ATTORNEY!
