Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Birth control for minor

Under court order, I am responsible for half of my daughter's medicial bills. I also provide insurance and pay child support. Daughter just turned 16. Her mother took her to doctor and had her put on birth control--which I am not in agreement with. My question is: if the birth control is not medically necessary, am I legally responsible for half of the costs? ( This is something my insurance company also does not cover under its policy unless it is medically necessary.) Thanks.

Re: Birth control for minor

Although I understand your feelings, you are still responsible for half. It is a legitimate medical expense, although you disagree with the treatment.

You could always take it to court, but it is an expensive undertaking to prove a point, with minimal chance of success.
