As a general rule, the presumptive child support obligation is determined based on the number of children to receive financial support and the obligor's net resources. In calculating the obligor's net resources, the courts will look to the obligor's wage & salary income, bonuses, rental income, interest income, capital gains, trust distributions, annuity income, gifts/bequeaths, deemed income (assets not producing income, such as multiple cars that could be sold for income), and all other income. The calculation also allows deductions for taxes - state and federal, social security tax, union dues, and child's health insurance or cash medical support.
