my boyfriend of 2 1/2 years and father of our child and i are not legally married. we live together, we are commited to our family but still no wedding certificate, how does this affect me or my child

The child is a "child without a presumed father," what used to be called "illegitimate" or a "bastard." The father has options if he wants to take on the legal responsibility of a father, for instance, he can sign (and file with the Bureau of Vital Statistics) an Acknowledgment of Paternity.
