Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
My brother had gotten a divorce by online divorce. His ex had done the papers up. She gave him some money at the time they were married to buy some land. She did not want her name on the land papers. They are in his name. She did the divorce papers, and in the papers he was to pay her for a mobile home (which was hers) and the land. He just wanted the woman out of his life. He signed. The total was 36,000. He was to pay her $500.00 a month. Now, the thing was if her son moved into this mobile home on the land, my brother was not to pay the $500.00, but her son was, and it would still be as if my brother would be paying it. He has paid her well over $12,000.000. He has evidence to this fact. So the question is, is there a Texas law that says what part goes to what? Does the land get paid off first? In the online divorce nothing was stipulated as to what amount goes to what. But the purchase of the land (from my sister) was about $10,000 and the mobile home my brothers ex wanted was $25,000.00. What part of the $12,000 goes to what? Needing some help. Thank you.

I don't mean to lecture anybody on what's in the past, but why in the world would someone think he could settle a $25,000 community estate, and make it airtight, without hiring a lawyer?
There isn't enough information in your question to give an answer. Your brother needs to take the decree to a good family lawyer who can review it and tell him what his options are.
