Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
California-Texas child support problems
My ex and I have been divorced 9yrs and in that time, I have had problems collecting child support from him on time. I finally had to go to court and get a wage assignment. That done everything was fine for about 6 months. After that period, he quit his job, took his 401k money, moved to Texas, claims to be retired at 37 and in essence dares me to do anything about collecting child support. I'm not sure what to do at this point. My current husband of 7 years makes good money when working (he's in construction) and yearly income looks good on paper, but we have a hard time making ends meet and I don't have a lot of money for a retainer fee. Any suggestions?

Re: California-Texas child support problems
Texas has many remedies to collect child support. They include contempt citations, wage assignments, garnishments, liens on real and personal property, and suspension of state-issued licenses (such as driver's or hunting licenses). Further, depending upon how much back support he owes, your ex may have violated some federal laws.
