Re: name change

Changing your name is fairly simple - unless you have a felony conviction, or you are trying to change the name of a minor. Changing your name to avoid payment of debts is not allowed. Your attorney will ask you in court if you are trying to avoid debt. It is really quick and easy if you are not a minor and not a felon. The court costs are - or used to be $270. an attorney should not charge you more than $300 to file and prove up the case. I suggest that you bring a few dollars to get certified copies of the name change order. You will need to give certified copies to all parties who need to note the name change. The cost for certified copies is a dollar a page. Good luck and if you need help, you can give me a call at 817 261-2671.
