Name change for a minor

How do I change the name of a minor child? The father is unkown and is listed that way as well on the Birth certificate.

I'm not sure what county you are in since there is no zip code.

Yes, you can change the name of the minor child.

However, the judge might want to know who the father is. If so, then the man has the right to know that you want to change his name.

You might be opening up a "can of worms" that is better left alone!
