name change for minors

I would like to change my two yougest children to my husband last name.

Q: If their last name was changed would the non-pettioning parent still be order to pay child support when he does not show any interest to the children?

Re: name change for minors

Changing the children's names will typically require the consent of the father. He has an interest in the names and he could fight this, necessitating an expensive court process.

If you were to change the names, it would not affect child support. Support is independant of name or whether or not the father sees the children.
