Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Can I change my son's last name without the other parent's signature? I can't even file child support on him because he doesn't want to be found. He did sign the birth cert and the paternity thingy but hasn't been there since. I don't know of his whereabouts. And I just feel he doesn't deserve to put his name on something he isn't even responsible for.

If the child is a minor most judge's won't do it unless both parents agree.
If you have re-married you might consider a step-parent adoption and termination of his parental rights. That would result in the child's name being changed.
You need to talk to a family law attorney in person about your issues. Look on this website and on www.avvo.com.
Based on the limited info you provided and since it appears that you live in Harris County, I would not accept your case. The family court judges won't do a minor child's name change in Harris County without both parents agreeing. I won't take a person's money unless I can help them.
