Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Name change years after marriage

I was married 7 years ago and did not take my husband's name. Now, I would like to. Do I have to go through the courts, paying a large fee, etc. or can I amend my marriage license or just inform SS administration, etc.?

It is not that expensive to effect an adult name change through the courts.

First contact the Vital Records in your county (or in Austin) and ask if they have an internal procedure allowing you to change your marriage license after the fact.
