Name Change
My 9 yr old step-daughter wants to chage her last name to the same as mine. What is the process we need to follow to get this done. Can I do this myself? The father on the birth cert. is not the father per paternity test. Not sure of and don't want to persue who the father is. She has never know him and doesn't want to. Would it be easier to do in our home town which is the county seat?

The fact that the child doesn't know who the father is doesn't change the fact that apparently she has a father out there some where who doesn't know he has a child. He still has parental rights. What you are trying to do is not something that I would do - maybe somebody else.
