Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

If I have changed my last name because my step father adopted me about 5 years ago in the state of Louisiana and am a legal resident and my residence card has my old last name and my social security has my new last name could is that illegal to have two different last names even thought we have the court papers? Now im living in the state of Texas

If you have a legal name change, just get a certified copy of the court's order granting the name change and provide that to the immigration folks.
