You will need to file a paternity action. After paternity is established, visitation and child support will be covered.

The age of the child is relevant in a name change.

Normally in Harris County, Texas family courts if a man pays child support the child will carry his last name. However, if the child is older and it would be tramatic for the child to change his/her name, the court might consider that evidence.
