Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Hi, my name is Charli. My question has to do with my stepdaughter and her biological mother. The mother hardly ever comes around and finally in the last 2 months has decided to come see my stepdaughter, of which we are not against. however we recently found out that she tried to kill herself in the last 3 months because of an ex-boyfriend, and the man who "saved" her is now her boyfriend that she lives with. Of course our concern is, what happens when this boyfriend breaks up with her, will she try again, but this time around my stepdaughter. This is her 4th boyfriend in the last 2 years, and has lived with each one. This time however she not only lives with her boyfriend, but several other people all of whom we dont know. We feel that if my stepdaughter goes and stays the night with her bilogical mother that irrepracable damage may be caused. Is there anything like an injuction we can place to have supervised visits, or anything to help keep my stepdaughter in a safer enviroment?

Your concerns are logical and well-placed. Her father needs to file a Petition to Modify the Parent-Child Relationship, to limit the mom's access to this child. It will probably not be a pleasant or inexpensive process, but it sounds like it is necessary; in order to protect this child.
