Re: child abandenment

If CPS has removed the children, then they will have an investigation and a hearing to determine what the parents' rights should be. A non-government termination case is extremely difficult and very expensive. Your best option may be to see if the parents will agree to you acting as a conservator.

Re: child abandenment

I have seen more and more cases where CPS takes the children and places them with a relative and then just drops the matter because "the children are safe". Unfortunately, the person with the children isn't. Without a Court order you have no real right to keep the children. You need to find a good family law attorney who deals with CPS cases. You may or may not be able to terminate the parents' rights, but you probably can get custody of the children. Good luck!
