child abandoment

my stepdaughter who is blind was living with her in laws.they made it so miserable for her she left and they would not let her take her children.She left the state for about a3 weeks.When she goes back can they keep her children from her and claim she abandoned them?

Your stepdaughter has an immediate need for an attorney. She will need to file for divorce or a suit affecting parent-child relationship.

Leaving the child is an issue that will need to be addressed, and if she had valid reasons, is not insurmountable. Three weeks does not constitute a legal abandonment, but it will have to be countered.
