what parent he/she wants to live with

and/or elect to have no scheduled

visitation?

At age 12, a child gets a vote: The child can indicate to the judge the parent with whom the child wants to reside, but the child's choice is not binding. It is something the judge takes into account in determining where the child should live. There is no rule of law that a child gets to determine visitation - that's something the parents and, if necessary, the court does.
