Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Child Custody

I have asked and have good advice from this site and it is appreciated. My baby's mom has not followed the court order visitation and I haven't seen my daughter in two years. I got a better job and she knows that I am going to file comtempt of court on her, so now she allowed my two see her for my summer visitation. I want to get custodianship changed. She lives in Houston I live in Dallas, what exactly should my next steps be. I need to get representation.

Re: Child Custody

You would need to file a petition to modify the conservatorship order. The petition needs to be filed in the court that has continuing exclusive jurisdiction over your daughter, which is usually the court that issued the current order.

I would recommend that you start by contacting an attorney that practices in the county in which that court sits (whether it be Harris County or Dallas County, as the case may be).
