Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Child Custody

CPS has placed my 11 month old grandson with me as his caretaker. They have closed the case. I want to get custody of him. How or where can i get help? I cannot afford an attorney. Mother is unfit (drugs & violent) and the father will not leave the childs mother. I have had my grandson since he was 4 months old. Mother can have supervised visits and the father can have unsupervised visit. Is thier a site that i can get the proper forms to file for custody myself? I would also like to have CPS to testify in court on my behalf. Please help.

Re: Child Custody

You need to file suit and you need to file it soon. CPS put that child with you and then closed their case without ensuring you have the right to keep that child away from his parents if they want him back.

This not something you can do by yourself. You really need an attorney. I'm not sure what pro bono assistance may be available in your area but try checking with Lone Star Legal Aid. Otherwise start calling attorney in your area and see if you can find one that will take payments.
