Child Custody in event of Death

I am a single mother with a 2 year old son. I want to know what type of document to fill out to give custdoy of my son to my best friend in the event of my death. I want to make sure my wishs stand up legally.

You need to see a lawyer, and have a will prepared that names the guardian of your child. If the dad surfaces, then he can assert his rights superior to the guardian. A judge can make that determination, if and when it ever happens.

If the dad has been absent for the child's life, for both child support and visitation, you can always go to court now, and petition to have his rights terminated.
