Child Custody

What are the exact legal ways that Texas can deliver a court order to make it legitimate? I got one that was faxed to me and it had a judge's signature but no state seal, is it legal and binding still? I live in Indiana and the papers didn't even come from the court but from their attorney.

The order is legitimate because the Judge signed it; delivery to you has nothing to do with validity. Different states do things differently. Texas Courts do not normally send you copies of court orders nor do they use seals. The only seal likely to be on the order is the District Clerk's if it is a certified copy.

Sounds like their attorney sent you a courtesy copy of the order. If you want a certified copy of the order you can buy one from the District Clerk in the County where the suit took place.

If you were not served with the petition leading to the court order, however, you may have a complaint as to the validity of the order.
