I want to have my ex's legal rights to my son relinquished due to abandonment. My husband wants to adopt also. Where do I start?

Retain an attorney to prepare a simultaneous filing of a Petition to Terminate Parental Rights and Stepparent Adoption. This is not the type of proceeding you can undertake on your own.
