is it hard to regain custody of your child after mediation when the father and mother of the child were appointed possessory conservators and the half-sister to the child was appointed managing conservator

Sure it will be hard, but not impossible. Consider those matters that were presented that led to giving her primary conservatorship. You have control over those issues which reflect on your parenting. When you are ready to present documented proof of sustained change in those areas, then your attorney has grounds to present a reasonable case for modifying that order.
