Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Child Custody

A lady has a child, then marries a man who is not the dad. The lady dies. The real dad is deceased. Since living in the custody of the nondad the child has been sexually abused by one of his family members. Does the maternal grandparents have any legal rights to the child? Also, the grandparents do not have enough money to pay upfront for a lawyer.

Re: Child Custody

Absolutely the grandparents have rights, and should exercise them immediately. Do not be so sure that they cannot afford an attorney. Make more phone calls -- many excellent attorneys are willing to work on a payment plan.
