Very simply - A Possessory Conservator is a conservator (usually one of the parents) with very limited rights to make any decisions for the child. Usually all they are getting is some visitation (possession). A Sole Managing Conservator has the right to make all the important decisions for the child (education, health care, legal representation, ...). Joint Managing Conservators share almost equal rights and duties as to the child.
