Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

child custody

Im am pregnant and due in december. The father of the baby and I are no longer together, but he still wants joined custody. Is it true that if I give the baby my last name, and dont put him on the birth certificate, then I get full custody? Im not sure what rights he has to the baby, and Im not asking him for child support.

The name on the birth certificate does not govern the parent's rights. Both the father and mother have rights and obligations to the child. Those rights and obligations are determined by a judge in a proceeding known as a Suit Affecting Parent-Child Relationship. You will need a lawyer.
