Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Child Custody

I am a single mom and the father of my child has agreed to terminate his rights to my child voluntarily. How do I find the legal documents for him to sign without having to go to court? Will I still get child support if he signs this document?

Re: Child Custody

normally the court will not terminate unless it would be in the best interest of the child. Child support can continue after termination in some situations. Hire a lawyer

Re: Child Custody

It is not likely that a judge will terminate parental rights, unless he/she is satisfied that the child's financial needs are met.

The document is a Petition to Terminate Parental Rights, and you can locate it at the law library.

You should not proceed with this type of case without legal assistance. It is permanent. You are likely giving up any claim to child support if you are successful.
