Child Custody

In Texas, is there a law or precident set that states a length of time a child has to live with a guardian before a judge can consider giving custody to that guardian?

Re: Child Custody

No. It is handled individually on a case-by-case basis. If I were the attorney representing the guardian, however, I would recommend that the child be in the home for six months before seeking conservatorship, as it sets a history of behavior for all the parties. It gives the judge a reasonable basis for making a decision.
