Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
child custody/visitation
i have joint vustody of my 7 year old and my ex has visitation. recently my ex got hurt at work and his unable to take care of himself. he can't drive or walk for long distances. sometimes he can't even stand up. the last time he took my son for the weekend he had to call me to come get him my son so that he could call an ambulance because he couldn't move. last weekend he wanted to come get him but told me that i would have to pick him up. i told him that it was impossible for me to do so and he in turn said that he was coming to get him and that he would not bring him home and he didn't care about whether he went to school or not. He never showed up to get him because i told him if he didn't have him home on time i would call the police. my question is what can i do to protect my son in this situation. i don't want him going over there and his father not being able to care for him properly because he physically can't move or because he is impaired by the pain medications and antidepressants he is taking. i'm at a loss and don't know what to do. any advice is welcome.

Re: child custody/visitation
Can't drive, can't work, can't walk much, can't MOVE. Can't you do something above and beyond the court order to help out in this situation? Can't you take the child there, and let him visit with his dad for a while, while you sit in the kitchen and read a book?
If this case went before the judge, it is likely that the judge is going to go to lengths to insure that the child maintains contact with the dad, despite the severe disability.
