How old can a child be to make his/her decision to not go to the other parent for visitation?

There is no such magic age. Read your court order.

What most mothers do is this: Dad shows up at the front door on Friday at 6:00 pm. Mom opens the door and says, "Harold, come on in. Your daughter doesn't want to go with you. She's in her room. You can go talk to her if you want to."

If Dad wants to wrestle the child down the hall and throw her into his car, he can.

Mom's duty (read your order) is to SURRENDER the child - not to hogtie the kid and help Dad put her into a vehicle.
