Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

my child

my mother does not have custody of my son, or even an agreement to keep my son, and she wouldn't give him to me when I moved out of her house. He is 3 yrs old, and I am 22. She grabbed him out of my arms and I didn't want to fight in front of the baby, so I just left. What do I need to do to get my son. She and her new husband cannot have kids, so they want my son and she calls him ''her'' son. Should I take the police with me and his birth certificate?

assuming there is court order in place giving her custody that may not be a bad idea otherwise seek legal counsel
