Child support after age 18.

My son is 18. A senior in highschool. After he graduates he is planing to move into an apartment. He is planing to attend collage in the fall. My question is am I obligated to pay child support even if my divorce decree states I will untill he is 22, if he attends collage?

Child support for children in Texas lasts until the child is 18, however, if the child is still enrolled in high school it continues until the end of the month the child graduates. If your child is disabled the courts can order lifetime child support. Without reading your divorce decree, I cannot tell what other actions could be used for enforcement, but once the child graduates from high school and is over the age of 18, the remedy will not be the threat of contemptor any possibilty of jail. If child support is past due and an action is brought before the child is age 18 and one half the contempt threat continues.
