Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Child Support Agreement Out of Court

My husband has a Sept. 4th, 2002 court date to settle child support of a child that he fathered last year(before we were married). He recently recieved a phone call that gave him an 800 number to call concerning the child support. The told him they would set up a meeting between him and the mother of the child so that the amount of support be agreed upon. The child was born in Jan 2002. My question is: How can we calculate the amount of support that he owes up until now? What expenses will he be responisible for? Will we have to pay one lump sum of the back child support? What about medical insurance? Will going to a meeting at the Child Support Office be better than going to court in September? Thanks for your help!

Re: Child Support Agreement Out of Court

Get a lawyer ASAP. Do not respond to an "800" number to settle the child support issues. That's not the way the Family Courts work. If you would like to set up an appointment and live in the Dallas - Fort Worth area, please call me.
