Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Child Support and Attorney Generals Office
I am currently paid up with my child support and have been over the previous 2 yrs. Now the Atty Generals Office wants to garnish my wages. Can they do that, If I am up to date. The details are; I had been sending my checks to the District Clerks office and they were not required to notify the Atty Generals Office. So the Atty Generals records show me as a dead beat dad(which I'm not) Which is the best avenue to resolve this.

Awithholding order can be obtained to garnish your wages regardless of whether you have been making your payments to the district clerk. You should obtain a payment history from the district clerk and be able to prove your payments to make sure that any claim for arrearages is inaccurate.
