Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Does child support cover all basic necessities

I'm the non-custodial parent. I pay the max in child support in Texas. My X says that I still have to pay for 1/2 of his clothing costs. I was wondering if that is not covered completely under the child support payments. Can you answer my question.

Thanks

Steve

Re: Does child support cover all basic necessities

Child support is not allocated to clothes, food, utilities, etc. It is a calculated amount to kinda, sorta compensate for the financial contribution of the absent parent. Absent specific language in the divorce decree, there is no obligation to pay for 1/2 of anything other than medical bills not covered by insurance. Of course, if you want to buy the child clothes, there is no credit for those purchases either.
