Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Child support? Health insurance?
I'm thinking about filing for divorce and wondering if there is a way that I can avoid paying for support. I have two kids and we both agree on having joint custody so they will spend equal time with us 50/50 and share the kids expenses, i.e. back to school clothes, money for filed trips etc. Is this possible? Also I have two kids and what are the percentages for child support in Texas? Also do I need to get them health insurance? Currently they are under my wife's work insurance. Also is the person filing for divorce is the one that pays for the entire divorce? Thanks..

I really think you need to go talk to a good family law attorney in your area who can explain everything to you. You are going to need one anyway. You really have too many questions that involve complex answers for a simple email, but in very simple terms: many Courts find 50/50 time sharing too disruptive to the children; the type of expense split you are talking about isn't normally done because there is almost no way to make it into an enforceable order; 25% for 2 children; you will need to provide health insurance but you can do that by reimbursing your wife for her cost for the children's coverage; it depends on the individual divorce.
