Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Child Support
My ex husband and I were married for 12 years and had 4 children together. We got divorced in 2000. I have custody of the children. The judge ordered him to pay $450 for child support. We went to court 2 years ago because he wasn't paying child support and he owed $4000 then. They put him on probation with the child support office but as of today, he is still behind and his probation officer refuses to make him pay because he cries poverty to her. He is able to buy cigerattes and his mom pays his bills and he is 43 yrs old. What should I do? It seems the Attorney General in Tx doesn't care and they are the ones who sent him to court 2 yrs ago. Today they don't care anymore.

If you feel that the Attorney General's office isn't doing a sufficient job, you should consider retaining an attorney to pursue to past due child support.

If you are not satisfied with the free services offered to you by the AG's office, hire your own attorney. When attorneys work for money, often better results are obtained.
