Child Support
My husband had an order for child support. The court paper work say child support in the amount of $399 commencing April 1, 2007. Mr. '''' is order to repay the state of Alabama the sum of $0.00. My husband asked the judge would he have to pay any back child support, like from the date the paper work was filed or before that? The judge and clerk told him no, you pay from the date starting April 1.
Now he is being garnished for $12, 096 in back child support.
How can this be? Is this Legal?

As you already realize, this situation does not make sense. He needs to hire a lawyer to untangle the mess. In the interim, he needs to make sure he is paying the $399 per month.
