Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Child Support
My husband had an order for child support. The court paper work say child support in the amount of '''' commencing April 1, 2007. Mr. '''' is order to repay the state of Alabama the sum of ''0''. My husband asked the judge would he have to pay any back child support, like from the date the paper work was filed or before that? The judge and clerk told him no, you pay from the date starting April 1.
Now he is being garnished and alot of other mess with his state job for $12, 096 in back child support.
How can this be?

Re: Child Support
Somebody in the state AG's office changed the paperwork without notice to your husband. This is a dirty trick of the lowest order. I don't know whether you could change the amount, but you might be able to get sanctions against the AG's office (doubtful though). You might be able to get a legal order. I suppose this could be an innocent mistake. Check with the court.
Re: Child Support
Just because he didn't owe the State of Alabama reimbursement for any state money (welfare, food stamps, etc.) didn't mean he didn't owe any back support to the Mother.
